NAME

zypp-boot-plugin - Libzypp plugin for evaluating needed reboot after package installation/update.

DESCRIPTION

This Zypp plugin will be called after each package installation/update which will be done by applications which uses libzypp.

If needed, the plugin creates the file /run/reboot-needed which indicates for other applications, that a reboot is needed.

There are different boot levels which will be stored in the /run/reboot-needed as an normal ASCII string:

reboot

Hard reboot

kexec

Booting a new kernel without initializing hardware and without using any bootloader like Grub2.

soft-reboot

Soft reboot done by E.G. *systemctl soft-reboot*

FILES

/usr/etc/zypp/zypp-boot-plugin.conf

File which defines package lists for which a reboot is needed after installation/update. Do not touch this file because it will be overwritten by a new package installation/update.

/etc/zypp/zypp-boot-plugin.conf

Despite the file described above, this file can be edit by the admin and will NOT be overwritten while a package installation/update. These file entries have the higest priority and replace ALL entries defined in the /usr/etc/zypp/zypp-boot-plugin.conf.

/etc/zypp/zypp-boot-plugin.conf.d/*

Allows individual entry changes which have been defined in the configuration files described above. Have a look to https://opensuse.github.io/libeconf/ for more infmormation.
