NAME¶
saptune - Installation behavior
Starting with saptune version 3.2 on SLE 16 we change the behavior of saptune during package installation. The system now always get a default tuning.
If the saptune package gets installed (by default SLES for SAP 16 installation, by selecting SAP Application Server Base during the SLE 16 installation, by pattern or manually) an initial base tuning is done similar to sapconf in SLES 15. The saptune systemd service is started and the solution SAP_Base gets applied (saptune solution apply SAP_Base). As the saptune.service is enabled by vendor presets the base tuning is persistent after reboot.
The SAP_Base solution is based on the SAP Note 1275776 - Linux: Preparing SLES for SAP environments (https://me.sap.com/notes/1275776) describing the new base tuning.
The system tuning for SAP workloads can simply adapted by 'saptune solution change <newSolutiuon>' or the combination of 'saptune revert all' followed by 'saptune solution apply <Solution>' or 'saptune note apply <Note>'
ATTENTION¶
In SLE 15 nothing changed regarding the saptune package installation and the base tuning. Per default sapconf is installed, active and provides the base tuning for SAP workloads. To switch to saptune for SAP workload tuning please use the command 'saptune service takeover' and 'saptune solution apply <Solution>'.
